How To Write A Thank You Note

Dearest Dolls and Lads, it is high time to address the issue of writing a proper thank you note. Yes, it seems as though most manners have gone to the wind these days, especially in the era of texting and e-mailing. Many birthday's, thank yous and births are all announced and celebrated via a text these days. Which in some instances are inevitable, and we're all guilty. But opening the mailbox to a lovely card is a special joy in life, no? I beg of you to keep an open mind to this centuries old tradition of gratitude not only because it exemplifies greatness in a person, but as added motivation, I will also grudgingly tell you the hidden secret of thank-you notes: They improve the frequency and quality of the gifts you receive. People like being appreciated, and if they feel you actually notice the nice things they do for you, they’re more likely to give an encore performance.

Here are the 6 points your thank you card should include:

1) Greet the giver : Dear Aunt Diana,

2)Express your gratitude : Thank you very much for the lovely scarf

3)Discuss it's use: It gets very cold here in the winter, and it will come in handy

4)Mention the past/Prelude to the future: It was wonderful to see you at brunch on Sunday or I look forward to seeing you at the bake sale Friday.

5)Grace: Thanks again for your thoughtful gift.

6)Regards: Love, Yours Truly, With Love, Etc.

What shouldn't be there: Any news about your life. This is simply a gesture of gratitude, not to be clouded by other details that out weigh the underlying thought. Simplicity.

Now happy thanking. You have no excuses loves. You'll thank me for it!
